EoT: Fisher v. University of Texas, Armstrong v. The World
A weekly roundup of national and international news about Texas.
The Supreme Court case of Fisher v. University of Texas is making headlines across the country, “with the future of affirmative action in higher education hanging in the balance,” The New York Times reported. The Washington Post discussed the case in a video, while NPR has its own take. Before the arguments, The New York Times also wrote a profile of the woman at the heart of the case: Abigail Fisher.
Lance Armstrong was also back in the news this past week. The Associated Press described the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency case as “page after page of damning details.” The New York Times outlined the “hundreds of pages of eyewitness testimony from teammates, e-mail correspondence, financial records and laboratory analyses.” In addition, The Times wrote that his participation in triathlons has received a mixed reception. While The New York Daily News points out that Armstrong’s “best bro,” George Hincapie, gave damaging testimony to USADA, The Telegraph in London contends that “Lance Armstrong is still a legend.”
