The Texas Capitol Visitors’ Center is holding an exhibit of narratives of slavery collected from former slaves during the 1930’s.

“Before Freedom” is an exhibit that compiled interviews with former slaves from Texas, collected by federal Works Progress Administration employees during the 1930’s. The exhibit also shows aspects of slavery in Texas and includes photographs and artifacts.
