Sports Journalists – Jeff Barker, 27

Reporting Texas
During my interview with Jeff Barker, a sports anchor/reporter at CBS Austin (KXAN), he talked about how during the coronavirus pandemic he hasn’t been able to go out in Austin and interview as many coaches and athletes in person, so he has had to resort to Zoom interviews. He also talked about how he’s had to report from his living room, and he also talked about how he’s been working on more features lately because of the pandemic. Jeff noted that he would like to utilize Zoom in the future to conduct interviews, but he said he’s eager for things to get back to normal.
“It’s actually been kind of fun. I miss the face-to-face interaction actually in person of interviewing people. But the Zoom I’ll tell you, it’s saved us a little bit of time. You don’t have to get in the car, lug the sticks, throw everything in the trunk and drive 45 minutes to interview somebody. You can hop on, see their face on Zoom, it records and there you go.”
