Farmers – Jayson Hill, 38
By Travis Hlavinka
Reporting Texas
Jayson Hill teaches agriculture classes at East Bernard High School and East Bernard Junior High School, 50 miles west of Houston. He is also head of the East Bernard Future Farmers of America. Hill details the struggle that 2020 has been with the cancellation of local and large-market cattle exhibitions and the impact that they have had on his and his students lives.
Hill recounted his day at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and what went through his mind when he heard the rest of the rodeo had been canceled:
“That was a rough, weird day. That was probably weirdest moment in 16 years of teaching that’s ever happened.”
